Production Manager (Fit and Finish)

The Fit & Finish Production Manager ensures that manufacturing activities, specifically related to the processes following test through shipping, run reliably and efficiently. Assist with planning and directing the layout of equipment, workflow, disassembly & packaging methods, work force utilization, and customer satisfaction efforts. Leads and directs the work of others. Takes full responsibility and accountability of department's performance.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Own, control and improve all manufacturing processes post test through shipping. Deliver a transformer and all its components free of defects without any missing items

  • Directs and coordinates production resources to meet DSE goal of 100% Customer Satisfaction measured by units delivered to customer location without missing, damaged parts or requiring rework

  • Directs and coordinates activities across several departments through subordinate supervisors

  • Organize disassembly and packing operation according to production planning

  • Train and manage employees and processes governing disassembly of the unit parts according to documents drawing, instruction, packing list)

  • Ensure all parts are packed and verified for completeness

  • Ensure the components are secured and safely packed

  • Validate that the shipping bill of materials is in line with the product delivery

  • Ensure all components are identified correctly for delivery

  • Use feedback from site delivery issues to implement corrective action

  • Work with QA, Engineering and Supply chain department to implement preventive/corrective action

  • Report any issue, any event to General Manager and QA. Document problems directly into the NC System

  • Improve and maintain instructions related to the department

  • Set standards of performance, measure progress, control interdepartmental workflow, analyze delays or serious problems and take remedial action

  • Provide and arrange for staffing levels, shift requirements, departmental operating schedules, equipment and machinery needs, etc.

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations

  • Assist in hiring, training, managing manufacturing employees

  • Ensure elevated standards for cleanliness and housekeeping and support facility improvements

  • Implement and ensures DSE standards of workmanship, quality and continuous improvement

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in field preferable or similar work history experience 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of a variety of field concepts, practices and procedures

  • Knowledge of quality systems, health & safety standards, process improvement techniques

  • Excellent technical, project management, problem solving and communication skills

  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills

Travel Requirements

  • Less than 15%
