Human Resources Business Partner

Full Time, Salary Position

Purpose

As a critical member of the HR Team, the HR Business Partner (HRBP) is a trusted advisor and partner responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in a designated business unit. Communicating needs proactively with Corporate HR and business management, the HRBP will seek to develop integrated solutions.

The HRBP maintains an effective level of business acumen about the business unit's financial position, its business strategy, its culture, and its competition. This position will be directly responsible for overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of Human Resources services and support to DSI's Fabrication Business Unit.

Main Responsibilities

  • Maintains a positive employee relations environment by responding to employee relations issues and bringing them to resolution.

  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.

  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).

  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructuring, workforce planning and succession planning.

 

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations.

  • Conducts exit interviews.

  • Partners with Talent Acquisition to create qualified candidate slates for all exempt, nonexempt, and hourly open positions. Support and participate in the Interview/Selection Process.

  • Perform other HR related duties as assigned.

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business or related field strongly preferred. Equivalent work experience may be considered.

  • Minimum 3 years related HR experience including resolving complex employee relations required.

  • Experience with a unionized workforce is preferred.

  • HR experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment desired.

  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP certification a plus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including employee and union relations, performance management, talent management, workforce planning, and federal and state respective employment laws.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to listen well, comprehend and analyze situations.

  • Demonstrates a customer service approach, with high level of professionalism, discretion, and respect for others.
