Electrical Test Engineer - I

Full Time, Salary Position

Delta Star Inc. is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to provide engineering leadership and design support for the mechanical components of medium voltage, mobile power transformers, and mobile substations. Purpose

Provide day-to-day assistance to the organization on matters concerning test procedures, planning, scheduling, cleanliness, safety, preventative and predictive maintenance.

Main Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the quality of testing assuring product reliability.

  • Provide product testing related technical support for Manufacturing, Contracts, Controls and Design Engineering departments

Specific Duties

  • Responsible for the Quality, Routine, Type & Special test testing to ensure product reliability to medium and large power transformers, Class I and Class II Power ratings up to 200 MVA base rating Voltage ratings up to 230kV, 900kV BIL including: Autotransformers, Mobile Substations with Switchgear, Skid Transformers. Power Transformers are governed by IEEE C57.1200 and C57.12.90.

  • Follows testing methodologies and practices to meet industry standards and satisfy customer requirements.

  • Actively involved in troubleshooting of failure during the final testing as well as in process testing.

  • Organize, plan with testing technicians on a daily basis to meet company objective. Attend necessary training with testing technicians and Test Engineers to ensure that they maintain the highest standard for testing the product.

  • Responsible for verification of test data in consultation with Quality, Engineering Department and customers.

  • Set up and perform daily testing of transformers/mobile substations in high voltage laboratory.

  • Provides training to all Electrical Test Technicians and Associate Engineers.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering

  • 1 - 2 years' experience testing power transformers

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of transformer testing preferred, related industry standards & procedures.

  • Self-driven and task oriented.

  • Excellent analytical skills.

  • Computer literate and ability to learn software programs is necessary.

  • Detailed understanding of electrical theory required.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and apply logical reasoning.

  • Ability to learn and train, to interact on multi-department projects.
