Corporate Transportation Manager
Full Time
This position is responsible for developing a transportation strategy and network capable of delivering Delta Stars goods, both inbound and outbound, on time, in good quality, at a competitive price and in line with all state and federal regulatory guidelines.
Main Responsibilities

Develop and maintain strategic carrier partnerships that provide the level of reliable service needed to support our manufacturing sites and customers, at a competitive price.

Develop and oversee that the proper insurance is in place for all shipments to minimize risk for Delta Star.

Take the appropriate measures to ensure regulatory compliance is in place for any/all shipments of goods.

Evaluate and implement systems and tools that help manage the network efficiently while providing the level of transparency of track and trace needed for internal and external stakeholders.
Specific Duties

Negotiate contracts with carriers or 3PL's that optimizes cost with dependability.

Work with Customer Solutions and Manufacturing sites to ensure processes and tools are in place to provide reliability and transparency to the last mile processes.

Stay current, develop strategies, and communicate any potential logistics challenges that are occurring which could impact service levels or changes needed to our transportation network.

Evaluate and deploy systems and tools that allow our plants to operate more efficiently in the space of coordinating inbound/outbound freight.

Stay current on and ensure compliance is in place with all State, Federal and Country regulatory requirements including but not limited to axel weight restrictions, heavy haul permitting, road clearance requirements, freight classifications, HTF codes, IATA/CFR, etc.

Ensure the carriers and Delta Star have the proper insurance coverage in place to minimize risk/loss to Delta Star.
Education & Experience
-
Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or other manufacturing related disciplines preferred.

5-10 Years of experience in Logistics, Transportation, Purchasing, Managing, and negotiating contracts with external providers.

Experience working in the Utility industry and the Heavy Haul space, particularly with transformers is a strong plus.

Negotiating skills.

TMS Software knowledge.

Experience working with 3PL providers.

Root cause and corrective action methodologies and principles.

Understanding of micro, macro, and socio-economic impacts on supply to better proactively manage risk.
Travel Requirements

Approximately 10%, dependent on business and supply conditions.
