Corporate Strategic Sourcing Manager

This position is responsible for developing and driving the execution of the DSI Sourcing Strategy. The sourcing strategy should leverage the full spend of DSI, determine strategic sourcing partners, and ultimately minimize supply chain risk.

Main Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and maintain supply strategies for all key commodities or purchase categories to minimize supply chain risk and optimize purchase price

  • Through the supply chain strategy, ensures raw material availability is in place to support customer requirements and growth initiatives of Delta Star

  • Communicate and coordinate with local site Supply Chain leaders to execute the Sourcing Strategy

  • Helps educate DSI on commodity or pricing and availability trends to better prepare future strategies

Specific Duties

  • Negotiate contracts (pricing and delivery) with all suppliers of direct and indirect materials to optimize purchase price with dependable supplier partners

  • Drive deflation projects for DSI, coordinating with all appropriate departments to ensure proper prioritization is put on the most critical projects

  • Assist the Finance Teams with understanding commodity/pricing trends to best prepare the business for future risk/opportunity

  • Coordinate with Sales to help align Supply Contracts with Customer contracts to minimize DSI risk and improve warranty support

  • Initiate methods to improve flow of information pertaining to cost and value analysis

  • Coordinate with General Managers to understand and support operational strategies with sourcing initiatives where necessary

  • Assist with developing tools and processes for engineering and proposals team to better connect sourcing strategies with customer proposals

  • Develop and maintain commodity or purchase category strategies

  • Develop and communicate sourcing KPI's to track performance on deflation initiatives

Education & Experience

  • Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or other manufacturing related disciplines preferred

  • 5-10 Years of experience in purchasing, managing, and negotiating contracts with external providers

  • Experience working in the utility industry, particularly with transformers, is a strong plus

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with all levels of the organization

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to take initiative to drive improvements

  • Desire to work outside of boundaries, drive change, and foster continuous improvement

  • Negotiating skills

  • Familiarity with make/buy analysis

  • Strong understanding of various manufacturing processes to better understand supplier capabilities

  • Experience working in or auditing quality management systems and processes

  • Root cause and corrective action methodologies and principles

  • Understanding of micro, macro, and socio-economic impacts on supply to better proactively manage risk

Travel Requirements

  • Approximately 25%, dependent on business and supply conditions
