Corporate EH&S Manager

In collaboration with the site General Managers, the Corporate EH&S Manager oversees daily responsibilities of the business unit EH&S coordinators.

Main Responsibilities

  • Plans and manages the general health, safety and loss control policies and procedures of the organization.

Specific Duties

  • Partners with the Director of Corporate Compliance & Expansion to design and manage the safety training programs to reduce accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards.

  • Develops worker plans and policies for new employee safety orientation including skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material handling procedures, and the use of protective equipment.

  • Collaborates with site EH&S coordinators in investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions.

  • Collaborates with site EH&S coordinators conducting risk assessments for processes, work areas, machine safety and ergonomics.

  • Provide oversight and guidance during OSHA inspections, with review of appropriate documents and identifying safety measures.

  • Oversees emergency preparedness, evacuation procedures and development of work safety standards.

  • Participates in trade associations and on various task forces to assist in the development of environmental laws and regulations.

  • Drives continual improvement of the EH&S systems at each business unit in collaboration with EH&S coordinator and GMs.

  • Maintains work comp management with insurance agencies and local EH&S coordinator for long term reduction of workplace injuries.

  • Ensures environmental permitting is in compliance with federal, state and local law/regulations.

  • Manages environmental activities of consulting firms. Evaluates and provides comments to management on proposed state and federal laws and regulations.

  • Maintains an understanding of processes with environmental and safety aspects through the company's environmental and safety management system.

  • Maintains and Develops EH&S metrics to help communicate and drive change.

  • Maintains a proactive approach with EH&S systems and programs.

  • Ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies.

Education & Experience

  • Requires a BS degree in area of occupational health & safety, environmental engineering, quality management or related field.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an environmental health & safety function in a manufacturing environment or related industry.

  • Supervisory experience a plus.

Travel Requirements

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed (50% travel required).
